Breaking the Habit Lyrics by Linkin Park

"Breaking the Habit" lyrics by Linkin Park are the perfect anthem for dealing with addiction. Though the listener is never sure from the song's lyrics, which addiction is being broken, the message is one that is positive, determined and resolute.

The opening two lines of "Breaking the Habit" set up the conflict, "Memories consume / Like opening a wound", which one would take is the reason for the addiction in the first place. Blocking out unwanted feelings and memories with addiction is a tactic many take.

A little bit later in the lyrics is the line "I don't know what's worth fighting for / Or why I have to scream", which brings to mind a struggle for self-awareness that will be necessary down the road if the addict is to stay clean and sober.

Still a little further along in the song are the lyrics, "Clutching my cure / I tightly lock the door", which most likely means the singer is going to ride out the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that come with the addiction. This is also why many addicts fail to get sober is that they are afraid of going through painful withdrawal.

The lyrics of "Breaking the Habit" by Linkin Park are a positive expression of personal power one needs to proclaim and process in order to prohibit the poison that is addiction. Alliteration anyone? Positively!

Chris Daughtry Music & Lyrics

Chris Daughtry, the American Idol who almost was, has come out with a self-titled album that is more than just the rants and ravings of a mad rocker dude. After his surprise upset on American Idol, Chris Daughtry set out to take advantage of his newfound celebrity and today his new album is number one on the Billboard 200 charts.

Chris Daughtry's lyrics on his Daughtry album maintain the steady theme of love lost throughout. In the song Crashed there is a particularly well executed rhyme from a lyrics standpoint, "Could've been the death of me / But then you breathed your breath in me."

Another good rhyme can be found in the lyrics of "Gone" in the lines, "Feeling overwhelmed, I take a dive / To a once overfilled but now empty place to hide." Besides the excellent rhyme there is an a gripping metaphor at work that pulls the listener deeper into the song.

Out of all the songs on the entire Daughtry album, though, perhaps the one with the most innovative lyrics is "All These Lives", which isn't about the usual adult love gone bad theme. This song in particular is about child abduction, another kind of love lost theme, that has rarely been explored in the musical realm.

Two drums up for Chris Daughtry and his interesting music and innovative lyrics that have put him number one on the Billboard charts.

American Idol Judging Nastier Than Ever?

There's "train wreck" TV and then there's good train wreck TV and American Idol is good train wreck television. As the world's most popular singing competition heads into its 6th season, I've heard many people ask, "Are the judges nastier this year than last?"

Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no, they are about the same. It is we the audience who has had a respite from this acerbic repartee who have forgotten the blunt, intolerant and sometimes razor-like comments from judges like Simon Cowell who are now reintroduced to this brand of entertainment all over again with fresh eyes and ears.

The good news is that there a few contestants who are singer-songwriters who have made it through to the next round. So, hopefully this year's American Idol winner will be a singer-songwriter just like last season's winner, Taylor Hicks.
